I Believe

This is an abbreviated statement of my beliefs.  A longer statement is the Second London Baptist Confession of Faith (1689.)  That document can be found by clicking the following link:

Statement of Faith

The Scriptures
I believe the Bible to be the inspired, and infallible Word of God II Timothy 3:16,17.

The Godhead
I believe there is one God eternally existent in three persons: The Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. Isaiah 46:9, Matthew 28:19-20, II Corinthians 13:14.

The Person and Work of Christ
I believe in the deity of Jesus Christ; His virgin birth; sinless life; His death for our sins as a substitutionary sacrifice; His bodily resurrection; and future physical return to set up His kingdom. Matthew 18:23, Hebrews 4:15, Romans 5:8, I Thessalonians 4:13-18.

Man’s Creation and Fall
I believe man was created in the image of God; he sinned, bringing upon himself and the human race both physical and spiritual death, and all human beings have a sinful nature and a need for redemption. Genesis 1:26, Romans 3:9-23.

I believe salvation is by grace through faith in the redeeming death of Jesus Christ, not by works of our own, that all who receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are born again, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and adopted into the family of God. Ephesians 2:8,9.

The Church
I believe that the church is a group of persons professing trust in Jesus Christ, meeting together to worship Him, and seeking to enlist others to become His followers. Acts 2:40-47, Romans 16:3-5, I Corinthians 12:12-27.
